Halloo,

Taking care of our skin daily is very essential. I noticed most people only pay attention to the morning routine and either forget the nightly skincare routine or don’t take it seriously. This could be one of the reasons you are not getting the desired result from your skincare routine.

It has been proven that the skin is able to absorb more skincare products and repair itself at night time than day time. This is the time of day to take advantage of.

I use to make the same mistake of not using any skincare products at night. I just clean my face and go to bed. My belief then was that this will let my skin breath. I was wrong. If you are doing this too, you are wrong.

The skin is believed to be more permeable and better able to absorb products at night. Nighttime is the time to take advantage of this absorbing quality of the skin and feed it with healthy plant-based skincare products that will protect and nourish it.

Don’t forget that there are some great skincare ingredients that can cause the skin to become sensitive to light and lead to damages if used during the day. These ingredients can be enjoyed at night. I am talking about anti-ageing ingredients like Vitamin C and Retinol,

Using Vitamin C rich product at night can help collagen production. This will make the skin look youthful and fight wrinkles and fine lines.

When products filled with Retinol or Vitamin A are added to nightly routine pores of the skin become clear, helping target skincare products to work better at solving problems. Retinol also boosts collagen production and have anti-ageing.

Skincare Products containing Hyaluronic Acid are very important choices for night time routine. I said earlier that the skin at night is very permeable, this very reason is why the skin loses moisture at night. We need hyaluronic acid to help draw and retain moisture to the skin. Especially important for those of us with dry skin.

A good nighttime skincare routine can also help boost blood circulation to the face. Massaging the healthy products to your face at night is really beneficial.

It is not only during the day that we can target those skin concerns we have. Hyperpigmentation and dark spots can be dealt with at night too by the products choices we make. If you have acne, pimples, eczema or dark circles, don’t just treat them during the day, do it at night too. Let your skin fight it while you sleep.

A proper night time skincare routine combined with a proper day time skincare routine will help fight off premature skin ageing, damages caused by lifestyle choices, and environmental factors.

Nighttime gives us the opportunity to lather up on rich and thick body butter. I have dry skin so I use Ruka’s Place Whipped Shea Butter at night. This is made with hydrating plant-based ingredients.
