Halloo,

I don’t know about you, but it is a simple one for me. I am voting YES, to repeal the 8th.

I want women to be able to make a choice about what happens, not just to their bodies but their entire lives.

My decision is not based on the many brutal arguments going on about this issue, in fact, I find both sides to be ridiculous. The insults and the bullying tactics being employed to pass messages are beyond belief sometimes.

It is also not about which celebrity is saying what, or endorsing a Yes or No vote. I think it is shameful for anybody to decide which way to vote because of a famous person. But it is the way things are today. Goodluck to them, my decision is entirely mine.

I won’t even bother with the medical professionals. Different ones have different things to say on the matter. Isn’t that telling us something? This is a personal decision. Give the power of making the choice to the person who will live with the decision.

Same goes for religious leaders, and politicians. These people have spent too much time telling us what to think and how to run our lives. Enough!

I think it should be a personal decision. And that is where mine is coming from; a personal decision to give the power of choice to the woman and her family.

My choice to vote YES is based simply on the principle ‘ No single solution can solve different problems’

At the heart of my decision is ‘The Family Unit’

We as people are very diverse,  so is our situations, circumstances, and way of life. Why should we lump different people together with one rule?

Let every woman or family unit decide on a situation that will affect their lives forever. Keeping the 8th is making an already stressful time more stressful for affected families.

I won’t bore you by mentioning some circumstances where it is absolutely necessary to have a termination. I think that is well covered in the media. One point to always remember is ‘No 2 cases are ever the same. They may be similar, but never the same.’

No decision should be trivialized! It matters to every individual making them.

There are ladies out there that got pregnant through rape, conceived through incest, that are victims of many unmentionable atrocities, can’t they be allowed to have a say in how such pregnancies play out.

Yes, it is not the fault of the baby. Neither is it the fault of the woman too!

You hear of stories of women who made a choice to abort and later regretted it. This always angers me so much.

Someone made a decision and later regrets it, so let’s prevent others from making decisions, force them instead?

How about those who made a choice to terminate a pregnancy and never regretted it? Of course, they don’t matter once we can satisfy the ‘Do-Gooders’

Ever noticed how some of the so-called Religious People act as if you are inconveniencing them and making them uncomfortable when you talk about your struggle with mental health?

Their most helpful way is to tell the person going through a rough time ‘To Pray’

The same set of people are clamouring for keeping the 8th amendment. People that can’t be there for someone who voiced out her struggle want to be the voice for the voiceless.

‘You can’t get to heaven by putting others through hell’ someone said that.

The hell going through the mind of some of these women can only be imagined. Why make it worse?

The sad fact is ‘You are on your own’ So if a woman can see that she is not physically, mentally, emotionally, or health-wise able to why not let her do what is right for her?

‘It is a sin’ my religious buddies will say.

Oh yeah? Right, why not let God decides that.

I pray no woman should find herself in extreme pain due to a problematic pregnancy and being kept that way while Doctors are deciding whether to terminate or not. Even when the woman would rather terminate and have her health back.

Just so you know many women lost their lives because of this!!!!!

I don’t know about you but I don’t think any right thinking person take the decision of such magnitude very lightly.

There are no winners in these cases. These are extremely traumatic times for some women.

I choose to let every woman and their family decide on this important matter if the need arises, they shouldn’t be bound by law.

I know many will ask ‘So you support abortion then?’

My answer is YES if that is the only way we can let women make a choice about what will affect their lives and that of their family.

Question my morals if you like, it won’t be the first time some people have.

Choice is healthy and humane.

The 8th needs to go!
