Halloo,

When this is all over, I mean when this Corona Virus episode is finally over, and you are looking to treat yourself and family to some well deserved fresh air, I have some ideas for you. One of such places is Kerry Bog Village Museum in Ireland.

There is the tiny little place in Kerry called ‘Kerry Bog Village’. I think it is worth a visit, especially if you are into history and way of life of the years gone by.

I wont advice leaving Dublin or any far place just to visit this place. But Kerry is such a beautiful place that you will be glad to add this place to your list of things to do and see in Kerry.

You must pay a fee to get inside.

This place is a visual representation of how the people of Ireland were living many-many years ago. You see the abode of the very poor, and you will be able to compare with the place owned by those considered well-to-do.

There are some items in some of the huts that really reminded me of Nigeria, and of my grandmother’s place in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

It is amazing to hear comments from my children. They reckon there is no way a person will sleep on such a narrow bed. I just laughed and explain to them that people did in those days. And the sad part is some people still do in these days. Some don’t even have a bed. While some have no roof at all over their heads.

A really sombre effect on us all.

They also struggled to believe that people sleep with their cows in the room.

There is a lot to be gained by going to this place. You can still spy some of the ring of Kerry attractions near this place.

It is located some 30 minute’s drive from Killarney. There is a pub next called the ‘Red Fox’ we didn’t eat here, but from the look and people in it, I think it is an attraction in its own right.

Common people take a quick tour of ‘Kerry Bog Village’ When in Kerry or Killarney. You won’t be disappointed.

When you are in Kerry, please check Gap of Dunloe for amazing view of what nature blessed Ireland with.

Do stay safe, observe all the safety measures to protect you from COVID-19 above, have FUN!
