Halloo,

The thing with Fibromyalgia is that there are no outward signs of the debilitating pain the sufferers are going through. This can be viewed as a positive or a negative thing, depends on the angle you choose to look at it from.

Personally, I think we, Fibromyalgia Warriors, have enough to deal with without looking like a train wreck. Is it the never-ending pain or the tiredness, or the forever frustration of dealing with idiots who think they know everything? The list is endless.

Looking good is a mood booster for everyone, whether you are a Chronic Illness Warrior or not. We can achieve this by using the many beauty products on the market, but the work of these products will be limited if we don’t take care of our skin from within.

A girl’s best friend is her skin. To wear it effortlessly we have to take care of it from inside and outside. I have talked a lot about healthy skincare products. Lets now talk about health skincare from the food we eat. Check my Natural Skincare Products here.

It is particularly important for people with Fibromyalgia and Other Chronic Illnesses to take care of their skin from within because most of the time we are too tired to bother with the many skincare routines needed to achieve and maintain great skin.

But we have to eat, right?

If you are like me, you will like eating. I eat when I am happy, I console my self with food when I am sad. I eat either way. So, why not eat those foods that will help your skin look great? No brainer!

Here are some foods that will keep your skin looking youthful and healthy. I grouped them into the skin loving nutrients they provide, I hope you find it useful.

Vitamin-C Rich Foods

Eating foods rich in Vitamin c will boost your immune system, help skin heal  fast in case of injuries or wounds. It is really essential for good quality skin.

Foods like Cabbage, Cherries, potatoes, cauliflower, every colour of bell pepper, papaya or pawpaw, oranges, grapefruits, pineapple, cantaloupe, lemons, broccoli, kale, strawberry. Please don’t store these foods for too long because the vitamin c contents may be lost.

Foods Rich in Anti-inflammatory Antioxidants

Foods rich in Anti-inflammatory Antioxidants will help promotes even skin tone, prevents acne and other skin problems.

You can get this from foods like; Oily Fish, Nuts, Seeds, Ginger, Garlic, Cayenne, Extra-Virgin Olive Oil.

Foods with Potassium

Potassium is needed for collagen production. Potassium also helps in keeping skin hydrated and moisturized.

You can get it by eating these foods: Apricots, Bananas, Kiwis, Oranges, Pineapples, Carrots, Potatoes, Beans, Nuts, Wholegrain, Lean Meats, Spinach, and other Vegetables.

Foods Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Eating food rich in omega 3 fatty acids is essential in having great skin and Anti-ageing effects. It will also help skin moisturization from within.

We are talking Salmons, Flaxseeds, Chia, Peaches, Apricots, Mackerel, Tuna, Herring, Sardines, Walnuts, Soybean Oil, Canola Oil. 

Beta Carotene and Vitamin A Foods

Foods packed full with Beta Carotene and Vitamin A will help boosts production of collagen which is great for treating acne, anti-ageing signs.

Foods here are Spinach, Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Winter Squash, Kale, Cantaloupe, and Apricots.

Foods with Amino Acids

To keep skin firm, nourished, smooth, and elastic Amino acid, from within is vital. Amino Acid will help to repair skin, keep skin glowing and youthful.

Examples of food here are; Watercress, Eggs, Chicken, Seaweed, Pumpkin, whole grain Rice, Turnip, Kidney Beans, Avocados, Banana, Dates, Figs, Turkey, Lamb, Hemp Seed, Cabbage, Quinoa, Apples, Broccoli, Cranberries, and Rye.

Foods with Magnesium

Foods full of Magnesium can help skin become clear and evenly toned. It lowers cortisol levels and stabilizes hormone imbalances.

Foods like Almonds, Kale, Figs, Avocado, Banana, Raspberries, Black Beans, Chickpeas, Kidney Beans, Broccoli, Cabbage, Green Beans, Artichokes, Asparagus, Brussel Sprouts, Peas, Salmon, Mackerel, and Tuna.

Anthocyanins Rich Foods

Eating foods with Anthocyanidins will help delay the ageing process by preventing the breakdown of collagen.

Foods with anthocyanins are Red berries, Red Onions, Elderberries, Kidney Beans, Grapes, Tomatoes, Acai, Blueberries, Pomegranates.

As you will have noticed some of these foods overlapped, they belong to more than one group of nutrients. The more reason to increase one’s intake of them, right?

Also, some of these foods are really good for way more than just skincare, they help fight pain, they keep depression at bay, prevents infections, fight fatigue, and much more.
